HC Deb 17 December 1929 vol 233 cc1190-1
36. Mr. REMER

asked the President of the Board of Trade if it is the intention of the Government to continue the Dyestuffs Act after the expiration of that Act?

40. Mr. MANDER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can now state the policy of the Government with reference to the Dyes Act when it expires at the end of 1930; and whether it is proposed to take any action?

The matter will receive consideration in due course.

Brigadier - General Sir HENRY CROFT

Would the right hon. Gentleman say whether, in view of the consideration that he has promised, he has yet been able to get out the figures of the number of persons in employment in this industry?

No, Sir. My hon. and gallant Friend had better put that question on the Paper.

Will the right hon. Gentleman not consider the many advantages of doing nothing in this matter?

The whole subject, of course, is at present under a form of review. It is much too early to make any statement of policy, but I can assure hon. Members that everything will be borne in mind.

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware of the uncertainty that the absence of an announcement is causing?
