HC Deb 11 December 1929 vol 233 c456
61. Mr. WEST RUSSELL

asked the Minister of Transport if he is now in a position to make a statement with regard to the cross-river communications between North and South Shields?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I regret I am not yet in a position to give a decision on the application made by the Boroughs of Tynemouth and South Shields with regard to the appointment of an engineer to report upon cross-river communication between North and South Shields, but I hope to be able to do so very shortly.

Mr. EDE

Will my hon. Friend be able to give a decision this side of Christmas?

Mr. MORRISON

I cannot be certain, but I hope to be able to do so.
