HC Deb 11 December 1929 vol 233 c435
3. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress he has made towards a settlement of the question of the Hungarian optants; and what the situation now is?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

I am in communication with the two Governments concerned, and in the meantime would prefer not to make any statement on the present situation.

Mr. MANDER

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think that it might be advisable as a preliminary measure to submit the legal issue to the world Court for their opinion?

Mr. HENDERSON

No, I am convinced that at this stage that would be a mistaken policy to adopt.
