HC Deb 30 April 1929 vol 227 c1380
37. Mr. SHINWELL

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is in a position to state the intention of his Department in connection with the disposal of Port Edgar?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Lieut.-Colonel Headlam)

We intend to dispose of the property by public competition with the exception of the oil fuel establishment and of the canteen buildings.

Mr. SHINWELL

When do you propose to do this?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

I cannot give an exact date, but it is the intention of the Admiralty to do it as soon as possible.

Mr. SHINWELL

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that the Admiralty have had this in contemplation for quite a long time? Can he expedite the process?

Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAM

We shall do it as soon as we can.
