HC Deb 30 April 1929 vol 227 c1375
26. Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware of the inconvenience caused to the public by the restriction of postal facilities at seaside resorts on public holidays, such as the non-delivery of telegrams; and will he look into this?

Sir W. MITCHELL-THOMSON

The hours of Post Office business on public holidays are usually the same as on Sundays, and, generally speaking, I think they meet public requirements. But I am arranging experimentally for the local post office to be open on public holidays for a period in the afternoon at some of the larger holiday resorts.
