HC Deb 24 April 1929 vol 227 c858
7. Mr. MALONE

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if he will give the House information concerning the matters recently discussed by him with General Primo de Rivera, the dictator of Spain?

The FIRST LORD of the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Bridgeman)

All that passed between the Marquis and myself at Madrid were two cards, one bearing my name which I left at his office, and the other bearing his which was left for me at the British Embassy.

Mr. MALONE

Was that interchange of courtesies worth the expenditure of the trip of the delegation?

Mr. BRIDGEMAN

I was on my way back from an official visit to the Fleet at Gibraltar. I had to spend a few hours at Madrid, and a short part of that time was spent in this exchange of courtesies.
