HC Deb 24 April 1929 vol 227 cc870-1
28. Mr. KELLY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Home Department, as representing the First Commissioner of Works, whether the provisions of the Factory Acts and the regulations made thereunder are observed by industrial establishments under His Majesty's Office of Works; and, if not, the reason why?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Lieut.-Colonel Sir Vivian Henderson)

The Department undertakes to observe the provisions of the Factory Acts in industrial establishments under its control, but if the hon. Member has reason to believe that this is not being done in any case, my Noble Friend, the First Com- missioner of Works, will be glad to make inquiries if he is supplied with particulars.

Mr. KELLY

While thanking the hon. and gallant Gentleman for his answer, may I remind him that I promised to send particulars with regard to the War Department?

Sir V. HENDERSON

The War Department is not under the Office of Works.
