HC Deb 24 April 1929 vol 227 c868
24. Viscount SANDON

asked the Secretary of State for Air whether the Royal Air Force will experiment with the invention of Mr. Martin, of Durban, Natal, or, if it has done so, whether its claim as to revolutionising flying has been substantiated; and if steps will be taken to avoid foreign interests securing monopoly-rights?

The SECRETARY of STATE for AIR (Sir Samuel Hoare)

I regret that I have no information with regard to Mr. Martin's invention, beyond the bare Press reports. Inquiries are, however, being made and if he submits his design it will, of course, receive consideration.
