HC Deb 18 April 1929 vol 227 cc412-3
55. Mr. CHARLES EDWARDS

asked the Postmaster-General whether he is aware that on the 7th February last a telegram was despatched from the Aberkenfig post office to Cwmmer, Port Talbot, post office, from Mr. J. Moles to his brother, informing him that his father had died and giving particulars of the funeral; on the 2nd March last a telegram was received by the above stating that his brother had died, and that on going there he found that no telegram had been received, but that the account of it had been seen in the "Western Mail," dated 9th February; whether he is aware that the postmaster at Bridgend has written Mr. Moles stating that the telegram must have gone astray in transmission; and whether, seeing the distress and inconvenience caused to this family, he will make inquiries into the matter?

Viscount WOLMER

I am having inquiries made in this matter, and will communicate with the hon. Member as soon as possible.
