HC Deb 18 April 1929 vol 227 c414
68. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the President of the Board of Trade what have been the results of the discussions which have been taking place with the Irish Free State with regard to the question of the Irish Lighthouse Service?

Mr. AMERY

I have been asked to reply to this question. The negotiations on this matter are still proceeding, and it is not possible to make any statement at the present moment.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Is there any likelihood of these negotiations coming to an end, and will the right hon. Gentleman be able to make a statement soon?

Mr. AMERY

We had some discussions a few weeks ago, and I hope that it will not be very long before the matter makes further progress.

Mr. KELLY

Is the superannuation of the man now in the service being protected so that they will not lose?

Mr. AMERY

That obviously is one of the questions with which we have to deal.
