HC Deb 17 April 1929 vol 227 c243
18. Sir R. THOMAS

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that a firm of town-planning consultants has presented a report to the Middlesex Joint Town Planning Committee making detailed recommendations for the preservation of a green belt round London; and, in view of the inability of the local authorities concerned to undertake the scheme without Government assistance, whether he proposes to take action in the matter?

Sir K. WOOD

My right hon. Friend is aware of this report, which necessarily deals only with part of the area round London. The Greater London Regional Town Planning Committee is at present considering the general question of open spaces round London, and they will no doubt take into consideration recommendations of this kind.

Sir H. BRITTAIN

Is it not a fact that the different boroughs round London have done a great deal in the provision of parks, as for instance in the case of Gunnersbury Park?

Mr. CAMPBELL

Have any of these local authorities actually put forward any proposals?

Sir K. WOOD

I think a certain number of them have done so.

Lord APSLEY

May I ask whether in the proposals that have been made there is provision for the parking of cars and the landing of aeroplanes?

Sir P. SASSOON

I must have notice of that question.
