HC Deb 29 November 1928 vol 223 c599
64. Mr. DAY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the reintroduction of the 1d. stamp for receipts above £2, instead of the 2d. stamp which is now imposed; and the approximate amount this would mean to the revenue in any one year?

The CHANCELLOR of the EXCHEQUER (Mr. Churchill)

I have noted the hon. Member's suggestion. It would cost not less than £1,100,000.

Mr. RILEY

Has the right hon. Gentleman considered what it would cost to use a three-halfpenny stamp for this purpose?
