asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the number of houses built in each county in Scotland under the provisions of the Rural Housing Bill; and if he can state which county councils, so far, have built no houses under the Act?

As the particulars desired by the hon. Member involve a tabular statement, I propose, with his permission, to circulate the answer in the OFFICIAL REPORT. He will understand that the purpose of the Act is not to build houses but to promote their reconstruction and improvement.
