asked the Postmaster-General what is the proportion of British-grown timber used by the Post Office for telegraph and telephone poles?

For its most recent order the Post Office received only two tenders of British timber suitable for use as telegraph or telephone poles. Both tenders were accepted; but together they covered only 5 per cent, of the quantity required.
