HC Deb 26 November 1928 vol 223 c36
60. Mr. KELLY

asked the Minister of Labour the number of men and women in the Burton-on-Trent district who were registered as unemployed in September, October and November, 1928?

Mr. BETTERTON

As the reply includes a number of figures, I will, with the hon. Member's permission, circulate a statement in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

Mr. KELLY

Would the hon. Gentleman give me the figures for the last month?

Mr. BETTERTON

The figures for men are, for the 5th November, 776; for the 12th November, 745; and for the 19th November, 689.

Mr. KELLY

Can the hon. Gentleman say whether this great unemployment in the Burton-on-Trent district is due to the amalgamation of certain brewery companies?

Mr. BETTERTON

No, Sir; I have no reason to suppose that it is.
