§ 10. Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEasked the Under-Secretary of State for India, whether he is now in a position to inform the House what is the decision of the Government of India with regard to the magistrate censured by the Chief Justice of Lahore in his judgment delivered on the 18th November, 1927?
§ Earl WINTERTONThe Government of India have passed orders that the magistrate should be informed of the disapproval and displeasure of Government in respect of his conduct in certain particulars, that he should be absolved of charges reflecting on his personal character and his sense of discipline, and that he should not again hold an appoint- 468 ment involving the exercise of magisterial powers unless and until the local Government are satisfied that he will not give further occasion for complaint.
