§ 23. Mr. KELLYasked the Home Secretary the number of orders approved for the working of the two-shift system since February, 1928, and the number of work-people concerned, with the names of the firms concerned?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSDuring the nine months February to October, 1928, I made 92 Two-shift Orders. The Orders do not limit the number of persons who may be employed under them, but the total number, which the firms stated they expected to employ on the shifts when they applied for the Orders, was 3,715. I sent the hon. Member last May a list of the firms to which Orders had been granted in February, March and April, and I will send him a corresponding list for the months between May and October.
§ Mr. HARRISIs the information for these firms sent to the Transference Board so that where there is a shortage of labour or new work, the information may be available?
§ Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKSI will consider the possibility of doing that.
