HC Deb 08 November 1928 vol 222 cc189-90
5. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Minister of Pensions the number of cases in which final awards have been given which have been reopened because of exceptional circumstances as cases of erroneous award and, in such cases, the number of pensions that have been awarded during last year?

Major TRYON

About 1,400 cases (including cases of re-amputation and second disabilities) have been reviewed and have received a grant, or further grant, under special sanction during the past 12 months.

Mr. STEPHEN

How many have not received grants?

Major TRYON

A large number of men with unchanged disabilities are not receiving additional grants, but, in all, about 5,800 cases are receiving grants, making less than 1 per cent. of the total number of final awards.
