HC Deb 23 May 1928 vol 217 c1872
80. Mr. SHINWELL

asked the Secretary for Mines what is the total sum due from colliery undertakings arising from the coal-control period, and the number of firms concerned?

The SECRETARY for MINES (Commodore Douglas King)

As regards the first part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply which I gave him on 30th April. The figures are only compiled quarterly, and to obtain the information necessary to bring those at 31st March up to date would involve an expenditure of time and labour incommensurate with the result. As regards the second part of the question, the number of firms concerned at 31st March was 37.
