HC Deb 21 May 1928 vol 217 c1516
The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Commander Eyres Monsell)

As the Opposition wish to raise the question of the beam wireless and cable services, and it has been found difficult at the moment 'to determine which is the appropriate Vote on which this question can be discussed, the Government propose to move the Adjournment of the House before the Orders of the Day are entered upon, so that we preserve our Supply day by taking Supply later on, and I understand that the Opposition, at the conclusion of the discussion on the Motion for the Adjournment, will be ready for me to ask leave to withdraw the Motion.

Mr. RAMSAY MacDONALD

I would like to thank my right hon. and gallant Friend for the way in which he has met us in this matter. We did find that it was impossible to get a Vote which was sufficiently comprehensive for us to discuss the whole of the issues. We shall embody our views on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House, and that Motion will not be carried to a Division.
