24. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Secretary for Mines the sum paid as wages to mine workers in Yorkshire for the quarter ended 31st March, 1926, and for the quarter ended March, 1928?

Commodore KING

The total amount paid as wages in the coal-mining industry of Yorkshire was approximately £6,800,000 in the quarter ended 31st March, 1926, and £5,550,000 in the quarter ended 31st March, 1928.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Will the hon. and gallant Member say what the Government have done to assist the miners, who have lost £1,300,000 in wages in three months?
