HC Deb 22 March 1928 vol 215 c567
76. Mr. HURD

asked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs what steps are being taken on the lines of the work of the Newcastle Civic Committee to encourage the municipal training and emigration of young people to Canada and other Dominions so as to deal especially with those who are leaving school and who can find no openings in this country?

Mr. AMERY

The Oversea Settlement Committee are anxious to co-operate with local authorities in establishing training centres for boys wherever such centres are required. Schemes have already been put forward by Liverpool and Bristol and the possibilities are being investigated in other localities.
