HC Deb 07 March 1928 vol 214 c1138
49. Mr. RILEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture the number of land drainage schemes which have been completed under the Land Drainage Act of 1926, the total cost of the schemes, and the amount contributed by the State, the owners, and the local authorities, respectively?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Guinness)

The powers of the Land Drainage Act, 1926, are exercisable by the councils of counties and county boroughs, and I have no information as to the cost of any schemes which may have been carried out by these authorities. The Act does not include any provision for State expenditure.
