HC Deb 06 March 1928 vol 161 cc236-7
74. Mr. NICHOL

asked the Under-Secretary to the Scottish Board of Health if immediate steps can be taken to ensure that the houses erected by the district committee of Upper Renfrewshire at Jenny Lind, Thornliebank, many of which have been occupied for over eight months, are supplied with gas for lighting and heating?

Captain ELLIOT

The Scottish Board of Health have recently received a deputation from the local authority on this subject, and they are making further inquiries with a view to seeing whether the difficulties that have occurred can be overcome.

Mr. NICHOL

Is it not the case that since the scheme was put into operation a change was made by the Board of Health, which has now held up the question?

Captain ELLIOT

That is just one of those technical questions which are not suitable for discussion by question and answer on the Floor of the House. I shall be pleased to discuss it with the hon. Member afterwards.

Mr. HARDIE

Is it not a question of someone in authority telling people to do the right thing?
