§ The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Earl Winterton)I have been asked to reply. No direct allowance is given to these officers, but they are required to maintain one charger only, and are allowed to buy horses from Government at concession rates. I am sending my hon. and gallant Friend a copy of the rules.
§ Major CARVEROught not these officers in India to be granted the same advantages as are enjoyed by officers at home in being allowed free chargers?
§ Earl WINTERTONIf my hon. and gallant Friend asks me to state my opinion on this question, I can only say that, as I understand it, the situation is the same as it has always been in India in this respect, and without any evidence to the contrary I see no reason for altering it.
