HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 cc1746-7
33. Captain GARRO-JONES

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether his attention has been drawn to recent disclosures of collusion between Government contractors; and whether, in view of the heavy loss which might be occasioned to the Treasury by such practices, he will consider the possibility of establishing safeguards and penalties which will ensure fair and full competition in cases where that factor is relied upon by Government Departments?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am aware of the arrangements referred to in the hon. and gallant Member's question. It is essential that every practicable safeguard should be adopted for the protection of His Majesty's Government against such arrangements, and active steps are being taken in the matter.
