HC Deb 21 June 1928 vol 218 c1743
26. Miss WILKINSON

asked the Minister of Health whether he has received any Report as to the serious flooding which took place on 14th June on the Martin Grove estate, Middlesbrough, flooding the new council houses in certain avenues to a depth of nearly three feet; and whether he would be prepared to assist the town to prevent a further occurrence by grants, either towards the conceding of a reserve sewer from the Martin Hall district to the river or towards such other scheme as might be considered suitable after due investigation?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I understand that flooding was caused by the overflow of streams as the result of exceptional rainfall on the 13th and 14th instant. I am awaiting a detailed report from the town council on the matter, but I may say that I have no authority to make grants of the kind suggested.
