§ 18. Mr. DAYasked the Minister of Health how many schemes for the purpose of slum clearance are now in operation in Great Britain; how many of these have been authorised; and the number of houses and families, and the total number of persons, who will be affected?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINOne hundred and thirteen slum clearance schemes, affecting approximately 14,000 properties, have been confirmed since 1919 in respect of areas in England and Wales. The number of persons required to be rehoused under these schemes is 66,968. The available statistics do not show how many families are involved. With regard to Scotland, I would suggest that the hon. Member should address a similar question to my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State.
