Earl WINTERTON

The whole question of the production and exhibition of cinematograph films in India has recently been considered by a, Committee in India, appointed by the Governor-General in Council, one of whose terms of reference was to examine the principles and methods of the censorship of films, and to make recommendations. The Committee is expected to report shortly.

Mr. DAY

Can the Noble Lord say whether any British films have been censored there lately?

Earl WINTERTON

Obviously not without notice, but I will send the information to the hon. Member. There are different methods in different provinces in India, and the whole question of censorship is being carefully considered by the Committee, and will afterwards receive the attention of the Government of India when the Committee report.
