HC Deb 06 June 1928 vol 218 c168
14. Lieut-Commander KENWORTHY

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he has received any response to his appeal for £100,000 for the purpose of building a new Borstal institution.

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Lieut.-Colonel Sir Vivian Henderson)

I understand my right hon. Friend received certain communications in response to this appeal, but he is not yet in a position to say what the result will be.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Has the right hon. Gentleman received any of this money in subscriptions?

Sir V. HENDERSON

No, Sir, we have not received any money, but my right hon. Friend has received certain communications in response to his appeal, and he is still dealing with those communications?

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

What is he going to do, if he does not get the money?
