Mr. THURTLE (for Mr. LANSBURY)asked the Minister of Health whether he has issued any Order, or caused any instructions to be issued through his Poor Law inspectors, instructing any boards of guardians in London or elsewhere that in future able- 28 bodied single men and able-bodied men with families must not be granted outdoor relief, but must be dealt with by the issue of Orders for institutional relief?
§ Sir K. WOODThe administration of relief by guardians of the poor, in London and elsewhere, is governed by the Relief Regulation Order, 1911, and my right hon. Friend has not issued any Order amending that Order. As regards the instructions issued to officers of my Department, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given to a previous question put by the hon. Member for Stourbridge (Mr. Wellock), of which I am sending him a copy.
