HC Deb 09 July 1928 vol 219 c1826
4. Mr. L'ESTRANGE MALONE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India the amount paid annually in pensions to British officers in the Indian civil and military services: and whether these pensions are chargeable to Indian revenues?

Earl WINTERTON

No separate record is kept of the amount paid in pensions to British, as distinct from Indian officers. The total payments in respect of pensions in this country during 1927–28 amounted to £3,509,438, of which approximately £75,000 has been or will be recovered from the Imperial Government or other employers in respect of the service of officers lent to them. The remainder is chargeable to Indian revenues.
