HC Deb 20 December 1928 vol 223 c3199
14. Major PRICE

asked the President of the Board of Education whether any assistance from the Lord Mayor's Fund will be available for the relief of distress arising from the closing of Pembroke Dockyard; and, if not, whether there is any other fund which can be utilised for this distressed area?

Lord E. PERCY

My hon. Friend will see from the answer I gave yesterday to questions by the hon. Members for King's Norton (Mr. Dennison) and Cleveland (Sir Park Goff), a copy of which I am sending him, that the scope of the Lord Mayor's Fund cannot be extended to include Pembroke Docks. I am not aware of any fund which is specially available for the relief of distress in this area.

Major PRICE

Can the President of the Board of Education take any steps to do something for this area?
