HC Deb 18 December 1928 vol 223 c2806
48. Sir F. HALL

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer, whether he will now give favourable consideration to the question of placing co-operative societies on the same basis for purposes of Income Tax assessment as private traders?

Mr. CHURCHILL

My hon. Friend will remember that this subject was fully discussed as recently as during the passage of this year's Finance Bill and nothing has since happened to lead me to alter my view in regard to it.

Sir F. HALL

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that many Members of this House are of opinion that the figures are wrong, and will he look into the matter further?

Mr. CHURCHILL

If there are any modifications in the figures, it would not affect the general argument.
