Lieut.-Colonel JAMESasked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Admiralty whether any vacancies exist in the grade of second-class hydrographic draughtsmen; if so, the number; and whether it is proposed to fill these vacancies by an open competitive examination or whether they will be covered by the formation of a P-class amongst the temporary draughtsmen serving in that department?
§ Lieut.-Colonel HEADLAMThere are at present five vacancies for established second-class draughtsmen in the hydro-graphic department. The manner in which these vacancies will be filled has not yet been decided.
