HC Deb 10 December 1928 vol 223 cc1673-4
11. Sir ROBERT HAMILTON

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Native Authority Amendment Bill, Kenya, has received his sanction; and if a copy of the Bill can be placed in the Library?

Mr. AMERY

The Ordinance has been passed and the Governor of Kenya has been informed that His Majesty will not be advised to exercise his power of disallowance in regard to it. A copy of the Ordinance will be placed in the Library.

Mr. RENNIE SMITH

Has the right hon. Gentleman seen statements in the papers concerning this Bill; and will he consider whether the Amendment does not adversely affect the natives concerned?

Mr. AMERY

I have seen statements in papers, but I am not convinced that it will adversely affect the natives.
