HC Deb 03 April 1928 vol 215 c1795
55. Mr. DAY

asked the Minister of Health the number of cases of small-pox that have been notified during the three months ended to the last convenient date, giving particulars of any cases that have been notified in infirmaries or hospitals under his control?

Sir K. WOOD

During the 13 weeks ended 24th March last, 4,653 cases of small-pox have been notified in England and Wales. During that period approximately 100 Poor Law institutions have been invaded by the disease, and 16 cases have occurred in institutions certified under the Lunacy Acts or the Mental Deficiency Acts, but these institutions are only indirectly under my right hon. Friend's control.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether these cases were immediately isolated?

Sir K. WOOD

No, Sir, I cannot, without notice.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Can my right hon. Friend say whether any of these cases had been vaccinated before?

Sir K. WOOD

No, Sir, I should require notice of that question.
