HC Deb 03 April 1928 vol 215 cc1790-1
43. Mr. W. BAKER

asked the Minister of Pensions whether he will supply an analysis of the 4,355 first awards made during the calendar year 1927, showing the number under each of the following headings: widows' pensions, need pensions, new claims from men already in receipt of pensions, disability pensions, awards to nurses, and awards to officers?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of PENSIONS (Lieut.-Colonel Stanley)

The 4,355 first awards referred to comprise the following:

To wodows (including a few motherless children) 2,030
To adult dependants 1,092
To disabled officers 186
To disabled nurses 12
To disabled men 1,035
Claims for additional compensation from men already in receipt of pensions are not included in these figures, which relate to first awards only.

Mr. BAKER

Will it be possible to give the local figures for the Bristol area if I put a further question down?

Lieut.-Colonel STANLEY

I should not like to say it would be impossible. It might involve a great deal of work.
