HC Deb 30 November 1927 vol 211 c477
8. Captain GARRO-JONES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if there has yet been any outcome of the British Government's inquiries into the trial of Captain Crowley, of the United States tanker "Manataway," on the charge of cruelty to a British subject; and whether it is proposed to take any further steps in the matter?

Captain HACKING

I would refer the hon. Member to the reply given by me on the 16th instant, to the hon. Member for Cardiff East (Captain A. Evans).

Captain GARRO-JONES

Has not the hon. and gallant Gentleman, since that date, through the Foreign Office, made further communications to the United States on this subject, and, if so, with what result?

Captain HACKING

I am sure the hon. and gallant Member is concerned with the interests of Mr. Thomas, and I can assure him that it would not be in the interests of Mr. Thomas for me to say any more at this moment.
