HC Deb 30 November 1927 vol 211 cc494-5
39. Mr. E. BROWN

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether, in referring the case of Oscar Slater to the Scottish Court of Criminal Appeal, it is intended that only the proceedings at the trial in 1909 should be considered, or whether subsequent developments, including evidence given at the 1914 inquiry and fresh statements by witnesses and other persons, should come within the scope of the appeal?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. W. Watson)

Until my right hon. Friend has received any petition which may be presented to him on behalf of Oscar Slater, and has considered the nature of the averments by which it is supported, he will not be in a position to decide as to the form and scope of a reference to the Scottish Court of Criminal Appeal.
