§ 24. Mr. WESTWOODasked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authorities have submitted schemes under the Housing (Rural Workers) Act, 1926, giving the numbers of houses involved, and amounts promised in the way of grants and loans, respectively, for each of the respective schemes?
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for SCOTLAND (Sir John Gilmour)Up to date, 62 local authorities in Scotland have submitted to the Scottish Board of Health schemes under the Housing (Rural Workers) Act, 1926, which have been approved by the Board. As at the 30th September last, the latest date for which the information is available, grants had been promised in respect of 206 houses amounting to £18,966 19s. 10d., and a loan in respect of one house amounting to £100. As the details of the respective schemes are somewhat long, I propose to publish them in the OFFICIAL REPORT.

§ The following statement gives the names of the 62 local authorities in Scotland who have submitted schemes up to date under the Housing (Rural Workers) Act, 1926, and have received the approval of the Scottish Board of Health to the proposals contained therein. § existing dwellings and the conversion into dwellings of buildings not previously used as such, and refer to the position of matters as at the 30th September last, the latest date for which information is available. In the 25 cases, where only dashes appear in columns (3) and (4) of the table, the local authorities' schemes had been approved before the 30th September, but no promises of assistance had up to that date been made under them. In the nine cases, where all the columns are shown blank, the schemes of the local authorities concerned were approved after the 30th September and no returns of progress have yet been received.
