HC Deb 29 November 1927 vol 211 c271
65. Sir H. BRITTAIN

asked the Postmaster-General what net sums for advertisements have been obtained for the last three issues, respectively, of the London Telephone Directory; and what efforts, if any, are being made to increase this form of revenue?

Mr. SAMUEL

I have been asked to reply. The revenue to the Stationery Office in respect of advertisements in the last three issues of the London Telephone Directory is:

Revenue
Issue. £
October, 1926 27,116
April, 1927 28,000
October, 1927 30,000
The last two figures are subject to confirmation on audit.

In regard to the second part of the question, the advertising contractor has a financial interest in increasing the revenue, and my hon. Friend may be assured that all practicable steps in this direction are taken.
