HC Deb 29 November 1927 vol 211 cc273-4
69. Major STEEL

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will take the necessary steps to remove all war restrictions and Regulations which have not yet been removed at the earliest possible opportunity, in view of the fact that it is now nine years since the Armistice was signed?

Sir W. JOYNSON-HICKS

I am not sure what restrictions my hon. and gallant Friend has in mind, but if he is referring to the general closing hours for shops, I must await the Report of the Departmental Committee, which has been inquiring into this question. I expect to receive the Report very shortly.

Major STEEL

Does my right hon. Friend realise that the particular restriction to which I was referring was the one dealing with bona fide travellers, and does he recognise that there is a very strong feeling that these restrictions, which were supposed to be temporary for the period of the War only, should all now be removed?

Viscountess ASTOR rose

Mr. SPEAKER

This is not the time for speeches.
