HC Deb 29 November 1927 vol 211 cc274-5
71. Mr. BROMFIELD

asked the Minister of Health the number of youths to be found in the casual wards at the latest date for which he has information?

Sir K. WOOD

Information as to the casual wards outside the Metropolis is not available, but my right hon. Friend is informed that of 705 persons relieved in metropolitan casual wards on the night of Thursday, 24th November, 44 were between the ages of 16 and 21.

72. Mr. BROMFIELD

asked the Minister of Health whether his Department will consider the question of taking a census of the vagrants in the casual wards of the country on a given night, in order that the age and sex of the vagrants may be established, and the proportion of those who are not habitual vagrants but are temporarily unemployed?

Sir K. WOOD

My right hon. Friend will consider this suggestion.
