HC Deb 28 November 1927 vol 211 c33
51. Dr. VERNON DAVIES

asked the Prime Minister if he will grant facilities before the end of this Session for the Nursing Homes (Registration) Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

I can make no promise in regard to time being given for Private Bills as the final decision must, of course, depend on the state of business.

Dr. DAVIES

Is the Prime Minister aware that the differences between the opponents of the Bill are so fundamental, that, unless he uses his power to pass the Bill, the grave irregularities and scandals which were disclosed before the Select Committee appointed by this House will go on unchecked, to the detriment of the health of the patients in some nursing homes?

Mr. SPEAKER

That question hardly arises here. We cannot have speeches on a Private Member's Bill.
