HC Deb 28 November 1927 vol 211 c9
23. Mr. MONTAGUE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for India what action the Government of India proposes to take with regard to legislation on the subject of the State aid of industries?

Earl WINTERTON

The development of industries is a transferred subject, for which Governors of Provinces, acting with their Ministers are responsible and Provincial legislation has in some cases been undertaken. So far as the Government of India is concerned their fiscal and stores purchase policy has for one of its objects the development of indigenous industries.
