HC Deb 24 November 1927 vol 210 cc2057-8
55. Sir A. HOLBROOK

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will consider the imposition of a registration fee of 6d. per bushel on all im- ported wheat, the fees to be given as a bounty to British growers of wheat, so as to relieve the farmers' burdens without expense to the taxpayer?

Mr. CHURCHILL

Such a proposal would not be in accordance with the electoral pledges on which His Majesty's Government is based.

Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHY

Is the right hon. Gentleman paying attention to any other of his pledges?

Mr. CHURCHILL

I am paying the strictest attention to all of them.
