§ Mr. ORMSBY-GOREThe total number of workers employed in the gold mines in the Gold Coast during the year April, 1926, to March, 1927, was 8,240, and the deaths during this period were 98, of which 14 were due to accidents and 84 to diseases. The death rate was, therefore, approximately, 11.9 per 1,000. No figures are available as to the invaliding rate.
