§ 22. Mr. G. HALLasked the Secretary for Mines whether, in view of the growing desire of employers and workmen engaged in the mining industry for the establishment of a pension scheme for miners, he will convene a conference of the representatives of both sides to consider the establishment of such a scheme?
§ The SECRETARY for MINES (Colonel Lane Fox)If my help were asked for by both sides in the industry I should of course be glad to do anything I could, but it is not a matter in which it would be proper for me to take the initiative, and if the desire for such a scheme is general on both sides I do not think that they are likely to find any difficulty in making the necessary arrangements themselves.
