HC Deb 30 May 1927 vol 207 cc16-7
32. Mr. BARKER

asked the Minister of Labour the number of applications for standard benefit and the number for extended benefit under the Unemployment Insurance Act, the number granted and the number refused during the year ending 31st December, 1926

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the MINISTRY of LABOUR (Mr. Betterton)

I would refer the hon. Member to page 45 of the Report of the Ministry of Labour for 1926 (Cmd. 2856) for the number of claims to extended benefit. Corresponding statistics for standard benefit are not available. The number of claims dealt with by the chief insurance officer, Courts of Referees and umpire are given on pages 44 and 45 of the report, but these include a number of claims to extended benefit and exclude standard benefit claims which it was not necessary to refer to the chief insurance officer.
